We are excited to announce an open call for artists to participate in two makers showcases, where selected artists will have the opportunity to showcase their creative process in real-time while engaging with the public.
About Artistry in Action
These two showcases are designed to provide a platform for artists to create, demonstrate, and discuss their work while interacting with an engaged audience. Artists will work in their chosen medium, whether it’s painting, sculpture, textiles, or any other form of craft or visual art. Visitors will have the chance to observe the artist’s process up close and ask questions about their practice, techniques, and inspirations.
A musical performance will accompany each day to not only add to the ambiance but also showcase yet another artist and medium. Space will also be provided for local art groups to educate the public about their programming and initiatives.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome artists at all stages of their careers who are passionate about sharing their process and engaging with the public. Whether you’re a professional artist or an emerging talent, if you’re excited about the opportunity to showcase your work and interact with an interested audience, we encourage you to apply. Only artists who live and make art in Pictou County will be accepted for this project.
What We’re Looking For:
- Artists who are excited to demonstrate their creative process in a public setting.
- A diversity of artistic practices and mediums.
- Applicants who are enthusiastic about engaging with the public, answering questions, and sharing insights into their work.

Please send the following to Carissa@creativepictoucounty.com by January 31, 2025:
- A brief artist statement (max. 300 words) describing your practice and what you plan to work on during the showcase.
