Rules of Use

Defamatory and or racist comments are not allowed, nor is bullying. We do not allow pornographic material. Visual artists may choose to post tasteful nudes. If the mediators of the site deem the art inappropriate you will be asked to remove it or it will be removed by The Hub Administrator.

Liability

The Hub is provided to you with our best intention of having everything working smoothly. From time-to-time maintenance must be done or our service provider may have an issue or one of the sites we link to may not be functioning. We do not guarantee that you will always have 24/7, uninterrupted access, and will not be held liable if such an interruption occurs.

Any legal challenges, questions, etc. will be determined under the laws of the commonwealth of Nova Scotia, Canada.

Privacy

We will not sell your information. We will do our best to keep account information private. We will not guarantee that we will not be hacked. We do not ask for your birth date, social insurance number, address, or other information that will help anyone to steal your identity. If you choose to put personal information on your artist’s page it is your right to do so, and also you are responsible for how it is used.

Intellectual Property Rights

The Hub and all of its content, features, and functionality (including but not limited to all the information, software, text, displays, images, video, and audio, and the design, selection, and arrangement thereof), are owned by Creative Pictou County, and providers of such material and are protected by Canadian and international copyright law and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

These Terms and Conditions grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use The Hub. You may access the material on the site for your own personal use and commercial use as far as creating your artist’s page is concerned (this does not extend to using the media from other artist’s pages, and their images on the main website, for your own. Other material on the site belongs to the other artists as it refers to their artists web pages and to Creative Pictou County for the remainder of the site. Your rights are exclusive to your own material and to that provided for public usage.

You must not:

  • Modify copies of materials from the site
  • Use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences, or any graphics or accompanying text, except for that designated for your use as instructional material or forms that have been created to assist you in promoting your art.
  • Delete or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights marks or notices from copies of materials on the site.
  • Reverse-engineer or otherwise attempt to steal the code used to create the site.

Note: By the nature of the way websites work, it is possible to take screenshots of images. If you do not want others stealing your images, it is suggested that you keep the image quality such that it displays well in the browser but not high enough to be reproduced well in print.

Any use of site material not expressly permitted by these Terms and Conditions is a breach of these Terms and Conditions and may violate copyright and other laws.

Links and References to Other Websites

The Hub offers links to other websites for the purpose of providing you with information. We do not guarantee that the information offered on them is correct or that the links will work without fault. We will do our best to verify the information and check the links from time to time. You must abide by their Terms and Conditions of Usage when on their sites. We are not responsible for any loss or damage caused by your following the information on the sites or on The Hub.

Annual Membership & Payments

Membership is a one-year term and renewable upon your anniversary of payment. You will receive a reminder notice prior to the date your renewal is due. Payments are made through the deCoste Centre for Arts & Creativity payment system or by contacting Creative Pictou County for alternative arrangements.

Termination

You may choose to close your account and terminate your relationship with us. Due to the low dollar amount we charge, for an account, we do not give refunds. We reserve the right to terminate any account for housing inappropriate content (pornographic, racist, political rants, defamatory, anything that goes against our policy and is injurious to others).

Notification of Changes

From time to time, we may make changes to the Terms and Conditions. We will notify you by placing a notice in our newsletter, Snapshot. You are free to read the Terms and Conditions whenever you wish. To receive Snapshot, you must ensure that we have your correct email address so if you change it please notify us by updating it in your account information.
