Jennifer Coveyduc is a fibre and mixed-media artist whose work explores the quiet resilience of the natural world through reclaimed textiles, fibre, and found materials. Inspired by the overlooked ecosystems of forest floors, shorelines, and weathered landscapes, she creates richly textured works that invite viewers to slow down, look closer, and discover beauty in places that often go unnoticed.

Her most recent bodies of work include the environmental series Held in the Wake and The Unravellings, inspired by coastal ecosystems and reclaimed marine materials, as well as Nature’s Seasons: Echoes in Wood and Weft, a showcased series of woven sculptures created on reclaimed wooden apple barrel hoops. Jennifer’s work was recently selected for the StFX University Art Gallery’s 50th Anniversary Exhibition: 50 Artists / 50 Years, where her artwork was also chosen to represent the exhibition’s promotional campaign.

During her residency, Jennifer will begin developing a new body of work ‘ Resilience in the Remains ‘  exploring ecological succession—the quiet process through which life returns and flourishes after disturbance. Using reclaimed and repurposed textile materials and through felting, crochet, embroidery, appliqué, beading , and various other sculptural textile techniques, she will experiment with creating tactile studies inspired by mosses, lichens, fungi, bark, and the intricate relationships found within woodland ecosystems.

For Jennifer, these miniature landscapes are more than just studies of nature—they are invitations to pause, observe, and reconnect with the living world around us. This residency will mark the beginning of a larger artistic investigation into resilience, renewal, environmental stewardship, and the remarkable ways nature patiently reclaims what has been forgotten.

Alongside her studio practice, Jennifer teaches fibre and nature-based art workshops throughout Pictou County, encouraging participants of all ages to explore creativity through curiosity, careful observation, and a deeper connection with both the natural world and one another.

Visitors are warmly invited to stop by the studio throughout the residency to observe the creative process, ask questions, and learn more about contemporary fibre art.
