Artistry in Action is designed to provide a platform for artists to create, demonstrate, and discuss their work while interacting with an engaged audience. Artists will work in their chosen medium and visitors will have the chance to observe the artist’s process up close and ask questions about their practice, techniques, and inspirations.
Join us for this free event and learn more about the variety of artists we have right here in our backyard!
This project is funded by the department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.

Gerald Gloade | Digital Art
Dr. Gerald R. Gloade is an Artist, Carver, Educator, Storyteller, Naturalist, Elder and Visionary. Now retired, Gerald was the Program Development Officer for the Mi’kmawey Debert Cultural Centre Project for the past 20 years.
From the First Nation Community of Millbrook, near Truro, Nova Scotia. Gloade was raised by his grandmother, the late Viney “Brooks” Gloade. He spent more time with her, than with other children his own age, and had a precious opportunity to learn traditional and ecological knowledge and skills through her stories. His grandmother, imparted to Gerald, the ways of the land, the history of people and communities, the skills to fish and hunt, and the legends of Kluskap. It was those Stories and Legends of Kluskap that sparked the imagery captured in his Artwork.
