Interconnected

Hazel Sheehan is a fabric artist who is based in New Glasgow, N.S. Her creations are hand sewn and may integrate fabric paint, lino printing, and beading. She enjoys storytelling with humour. Each piece grows organically as the fabrics interact and enrich the story.
Hazel’s textile exhibition, Interconnected, includes ten fabric hangings which fit into two distinct series. The first, Ocean Play, explores different levels of the ocean and highlights some of the creatures who live therein. Her second series, East Meets West, presents a tongue in cheek look at the relationship between a province on the Atlantic Ocean, and a landlocked province on the other side of Canada. Nova Scotians, with their decades long contribution to the work force and heritage of Alberta, have left an invisible imprint on the Alberta landscape.
