Quietude

These works reflect the contemplative space in which I work with fabric, paint and thread. It is a time during which I make connections that emerge from observations of nature and the constructed world. I consider what once existed and celebrate the complexity of the world, all with the hope that the work speaks to the heart. These pieces are relfections of my thoughts, dreams and images realized in fabric. I seek to show relatedness and honour human interdependence. I am drawn to nature, mathematics, light and shadow.
The work is cutting and piecing, not quite knowing what will crystallize. It is adding and taking away, dyeing, painting, layering, collage, embellishing, and stitching, trusting that everything will coalesce. It is the same trust we have that a small black and white seed will emerge and grow into a glorious tall sunflower.
This exhibition is on until January 12, 2026.
About the artist
I play with fabric, thread and paint. I am drawn to nature, mathematics, light and shadow; exploring colours, textures and life. Every fibre art work is an adventure, each sets me up against my limits, my fears. Each one teaches me that there are no creative limits. The work for me is to keep growing and to keep at bay the critical voices (mine) – to continue to be open to the world.
