Kathryn is a fused glass artisan who started Whimsy Glass at her home in Lyons Brook about four years ago. She was always fascinated with coloured glass, admiring the stained glass church windows she would see each week as a young child. She collected glass bottles for many years, and eventually stumbled across a video showing a glass artist in Europe creating murrini and incorporating these tiny detailed glass bits into larger fused glass pieces. She was immediately hooked and knew that she would one day have her own kiln and create her own glass art.

She spent the next couple of years devouring every source of information about kiln formed glass that was available. She managed to get her hands on a kiln and very quickly started experimenting with the light, colour and transparency of fused glass. She works mostly with transparents, but will sometimes include opaque glass as well. She draws inspiration mostly from the natural world and attempts to instill a bit of whimsy into every piece.
